Basic training course: CPR and the use of AEDs
Each year, around 400,000 Europeans suffer cardiac arrest, and only 1 in 10 survives. However, by performing immediate CPR when someone suffers cardiac arrest, you can double their chance of survival. During this brief, practical training course on CPR and the use of AEDs, participants learn all the basic CPR skills.
People who have successfully completed a basic training course on CPR and the use of AEDs can help save lives, both within and outside the work environment. When a person suffers cardiac arrest, the first few minutes can literally make the difference between life and death. Employees who are trained in basic CPR and the use of AEDs will be able to act promptly in the event of such medical emergencies and help buy time until the emergency services arrive.
This training course is open to all employees. No prior knowledge required.
The course mainly focuses on practical exercises. Participants will learn the basic principles of administering CPR and using a category 1 AED (automated external defibrillator). An AED device does not allow manual shocks to be delivered and does not include an ECG display to monitor the heart rate.
- This is a 3-hour training course.
- Maximum 15 participants per group. This will allow all participants to gain maximum hands-on skills development in company-specific situations.
- After a brief theory session about CPR techniques and AED devices, participants will be given the opportunity to practice CPR and the use of AEDs on life-size dummies.
People who have successfully completed the basic training course on CPR and the use of AEDs will be able to administer CPR to victims of cardiac arrest until the emergency services arrive.
