Risk prevention and wellbeing policy
No, it’s not rocket science. But the world of work is changing rapidly, so your risk prevention policy needs to keep up. Which is why, to ensure your employees have long, healthy and happy working lives, it makes sense to develop a well-thought-out and forward-looking policy on risk prevention and wellbeing. Need some help or inspiration? If so, you’ve come to the right place.
A forward-looking risk prevention policy: why?
Fewer absences due to accidents or absenteeism: you avoid physical and mental health problems or spot them sooner.
Enthusiastic employees: a safe and healthy work environment is good for motivation and job satisfaction.
Higher productivity: healthy, happy employees perform better
Strong employer brand: safety and wellbeing are important assets in a competitive labour market.
Legal compliance: avoid fines and penalties if there’s an inspection.
Drawing up a risk prevention policy: what does it involve?
As an employer, you have ultimate legal responsibility for:
Risk assessments at five levels: company, department, workplace, task and individual
The General Risk Prevention Plan: covering a five-year period and based on the risk assessment
The Annual Action Plan: concrete risk prevention measures in line with your General risk Prevention Plan
Implementing risk prevention measures
Informing and educating your team: about fire safety, first aid, ergonomics, stress and resilience and so on.
Appointing a risk prevention advisor: internally or through an external occupational health and safety service
Cooperating with the occupational health and safety committee (OHSC)
