Work accidents
Accidents can happen all too quickly, even in the workplace. So how can you prevent them from happening? What actions should you take and what lessons can you learn if an accident does occur? Mensura can help you with administration, analysis, risk prevention and psychological support.
Safety is costly, lack of safety even more so
Eliminating accidents takes time and money, two finite resources. Even so, it’s crucial to make the investment, because an unsafe working environment costs even more. For example, if an employee is off work for an extended period, you may have to hire a replacement or redistribute the workload within the team. There may also be material damage that needs to be repaired.
Organisations that present an aggravated risk could also ultimately be fined for not doing enough to prevent accidents.
What this means is that you should never cut corners on safety, as it will cost you dearly.
Absenteeism due to an unsafe working environment
After no less than 64% of work accidents reported in 2023, the employee was off work for up to six months.
A work accident, what now?
Taking occupational safety seriously is essential to reduce work accidents. An effective risk prevention plan gives you good protection against unexpected incidents. But what if disaster does strike?
The immediate priority is first aid. If psychological support is also required, we can provide that. As an employer, you also have a number of administrative obligations that we can assist with. For example, you’re required to have serious accidents investigated by a risk prevention advisor. If you don’t have a level I or II risk prevention advisor, we’ll be happy to help out.
