Risk management and assessment

Keeping employees safe and healthy at work is essential for the continuity of your business. But how do you know what risks are lurking in your company? And what measures should you take to avoid accidents or mental and physical health problems? A well-defined plan starts with a thorough risk assessment. We’ll assist you through the entire process.

    Risk assessment as the foundation

To know what to focus on in your wellbeing and risk prevention policy, you first need to understand the various hazards and risks in your workplace. It makes sense, doesn’t it? You identify these risks with a risk assessment.

A risk assessment helps you identify the risk points in your organisation – which are also the places where you can have the biggest impact on wellbeing.

Specifically, you identify all the possible hazards to which your employees could be exposed. That might include noise, falls from great heights, physical strain or hazardous substances, but also stress or non-ergonomically designed workstations. In order to be systematic, you look at various key aspects of wellbeing, such as safety, health, mental wellbeing, ergonomics or occupational hygiene.

    Specific hazards? Additional risk assessments!

Some risks are very complex or specific, or may arise on an exceptional basis in your company. When this is the case, it’s not always easy to come up with a proper assessment and suitable measures yourself. Don’t worry: our experts know all the ins and outs of the seven wellbeing categories and will be happy to support you with these more specialised risk assessments.

In addition, your organisation may have employees with a specific status: temporary employees (e.g. agency workers, interns, subcontractors), newcomers, pregnant or breastfeeding women, young people or people with disabilities. They are particularly vulnerable, for example due to their limited experience with your work processes, equipment and machinery. You need to take these special employee categories into account in your risk assessment.

    What is risk management?

OK, so you have a comprehensive risk assessment – and maybe even a few extra assessments for the special categories. Job done? Unfortunately not: you also need to manage, monitor and evaluate the risks. What about the assessments, then? You must update them whenever anything changes in your organisation. Examples: the commissioning of new machinery, a change in your team structure, a serious work accident, a switch to hybrid working etc.
