Ronald Weltens: "Helping people and organisations getting ahead gives me great satisfaction."

Ronald Weltens has been working at Mensura in the role of occupational health physician for the northern Limburg region for the past two and a half years. "Helping people and organisations getting ahead gives me great satisfaction."

"As an occupational health physician, I provide support to a number of companies in the northern Limburg region with their prevention policies. Prior to my position at Mensura, I worked as an occupational health physician at two other external departments for eight years. I then decided to transition into anaesthetics and intensive care. I enjoyed it, but it impacted heavily on me and my family. When a selection agency asked whether I would consider the position of occupational health physician at Mensura, it didn’t take long to make up my mind.

My main motivation in this job is the enjoyment I get out of it. Occupational medicine is a multi-faceted field and requires good listening skills and a great sense of diplomacy. It is very satisfying to see the result of your work and how it helps people deal with existing or potential physical or mental issues.

The longer you work for a particular client, the more trust you get. I always try to personally  meet as many people as possible in any organisation. Employees will be more open to your advice during return-to-work interviews if you are a familiar face.

My current position allows me to maintain a healthy balance between work and family life. I also work close to home, which is a huge difference compared to my previous job, where I racked up around 60,000 km a year on average. Mensura also offers an interesting combination of wages and fringe benefits. A great company to work for and a job I love – what more could I ask for?"
