Refresher training person of trust - supervision 'First Aid for Mental Health Problems'

This refresher training gives confidential advisors insight into how to hold discussions about mental problems. You will also learn how to support employees dealing with them. The training session is delivered by a psychosocial risk prevention advisor and is built around practical examples.

Why?

More and more people are struggling with mental health problems such as an anxiety disorder or depression. This can also lead to problems in the workplace: lower productivity, conflicts, stress ... This further training teaches confidential advisors how to offer a listening ear, hold discussions about mental wellbeing and support employees in their role as a confidential advisor.

Prior knowledge required

The further training is intended both for new confidential advisors and for experienced confidential advisors who want to explore the topic of 'mental health problems' more in-depth.

What do you learn?

This further training focuses on several common mental health problems - anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, etc. - and how to recognise them. You will learn the basic principles of First Aid for Mental Health Problems, and what you can do in your role as a confidential advisor.

Result?

After this training session, you will know the basic principles of First Aid for Mental Health Problems and learn how to apply them concretely in specific practical examples. You will find out how to make mental wellbeing open for discussion and how to support employees with mental health problems.

After this course, you will know:

  • What types of mental health problems there are and how they (can) manifest themselves

  • What the basic principles are for initial support

  • How and to whom you can refer employees with mental health problems

  • How to have a discussion with an employee about mental health problems

On the successful completion of the continuing education You will then receive a certificate (valid in Belgium).

For whom?

This training session (with a maximum of 12 people) is intended for both new and experienced confidential advisors who want to sharpen and share their expertise. Do you need a continuing education certificate? Then this is what you are looking for.

What is stipulated by law?

The law requires that as a confidential advisor you must refresh your knowledge every year and exchange practical experience. In addition, you need a valid certificate to demonstrate this.

Mensura is included on the list of the Federal Public Service Employment, Labour and Social Dialogue (FOD WASO) as a training provider for the supervision of confidential advisors.

If your organisation is affiliated with Mensura External Service for Prevention and Protection at Work (EDPB), you have prevention units and your balance is sufficient, you can use these to pay.
