“There is an interaction between what we do internally and externally”

As a wellness and prevention specialist, Mensura practises what it preaches in-house as well. Thus, the ‘Well-being at Mensura’ project focuses on the well-being of Mensura’s own employees in the broadest sense of the word, explain HR Business Partner Katrien Meert and Psychosocial Aspects Team Leader Heidi Henkens.

“Clients are looking for a comprehensive well-being solution that goes beyond stress or burnout prevention,” says Heidi. “That’s precisely why we offer a comprehensive solution that combines the psychosocial aspect, with attention to vitality and ergonomics. Based on the philosophy of ‘practise what you preach’, we offer the same support for employees with Well-being at Mensura.”

Well-being: a holistic view

Katrine continues, “We announced the internal project at our staff party. A project group then used an in-house survey to identify the goals for which colleagues wanted support. The main themes were a positive mindset, creating opportunities for optimal collaboration, and stress management support. It’s about so much more than more exercise and healthy eating.”

Mensura’s partner Springbok and the Mensura team discuss what concrete actions that region has in mind at each regional meeting. As the programme rollout progresses, ‘wellfluencers’ will take on an ambassador role and further shape the initiatives in their regions. “In the meantime, we’ve initiated the exercise challenge and online coaching through Wealthy Mind, a group course on healthy habits. Employees can find an overview of the full well-being range on an intranet page.”

Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)

Since February, Mensura has had an in-house curative range in addition to the preventive ones. Through EAP, an employer provides round-the-clock psychological, physical, and practical support to employees and their family members. “From troublesome teens to relationship difficulties or financial issues, an EAP counsellor will help you through a difficult period in your personal life, to prevent the problem from getting bigger or making you feel bad at work. A sympathetic ear at such times can take quite a bit of pressure off their shoulders. We have been offering the programme to clients for some time; now, the support is also there for our own employees. There is always an interaction between what we do internally and externally.”
